SPRING 2010

Waiting for lambing time.
The ewes are all brought down off the fells for lambing time into the close by fields.

We farm the land at The Dash alongside our other farm where we live, Stockdale.  We travel to The Dash each day using a quad bike over the fells.  The two farms, along with many other farms, share the use of the fells as common land.  These fells extend to thousands of acres and all our sheep graze there.

The Dash is the only dwelling in the Dash valley with the fields spreading right across the valley.  The valley is flanked on one side by Bakestall part the the Skiddaw massif, and on the northern side by Great Cockup.

Enlarge the map opposite and you can see the extent of the farm in a darker outline.  This does not include the common fell area.

Belted Galloways, Fancy, Fern, Fleur and Ellie .
Our Belted Galloways arrived in November 09 and have wintered nicely.
We have now increased our herd to 7.
The Dash looked stunning in the snow, though travelling with the fodder for the stock everyday got quite tricky.

Our horses Carlton and Fion, looking very hairy in the snow.
